ABOUT THE POSITION

The Assistant Electrician position is responsible for assisting with the overall electrical maintenance of the company’s equipment. No prior electrical experience is required for this position. We are willing to train the right individual!

A description of the duties includes:

  • Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas;
  • Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation;
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment;
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment;
  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved;
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed;
  • Responsible for maintaining clean facilities, and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance;
  • Attends training and safety meetings;
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
  • Maintains safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Present a clean and professional appearance;
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training preferred, but not required. No electrical experience required - willing to train the right individual!
  • Basic computer operation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, toxic chemicals, and grain dust. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and explosives.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required stand, walk, sit climb, kneel, crawl, or balance. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds. The employee may frequently need to climb ladders (may range from 20’ to 180’) and stairs.
